By 91Bikes Team
India's 350cc to 500cc motorcycle segment had a strong August 2026, but one familiar name remained comfortably at the front. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 recorded 43,428 units during the month, making it the highest-selling motorcycle in this capacity grouping by a sizeable margin.
The bigger story, however, goes beyond the Classic 350. Total sales in the 350cc-500cc category reached 1,31,956 units in August 2026, compared with 1,10,158 units in August 2025. That's a year-on-year increase of 19.79%.
Royal Enfield continued to dominate the category with the Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350 and Meteor 350 occupying the first four positions. Meanwhile, Honda delivered one of the month's biggest surprises, with the CB350 range crossing 9,000 units and growing more than 132% year-on-year.
350cc-500cc Motorcycle Sales Grow Nearly 20%
The segment recorded 1,31,956 units in August 2026, up from 1,10,158 units during the same month last year.
Sales were also stronger compared with July 2026. The category had recorded 1,22,483 units in July, meaning August volumes increased by 7.73% month-on-month.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 Remains the Bestseller
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 once again proved just how important it is to India's mid-capacity motorcycle market.
Royal Enfield sold 43,428 units of the Classic 350 in August 2026, compared with 36,025 units during August 2025. This represents a healthy 20.55% year-on-year increase.
The Classic also improved compared with July 2026, when 39,197 units were recorded. Its August performance therefore represented a 10.79% month-on-month increase.
More importantly, the Classic 350 alone accounted for approximately 32.91% of the entire 350cc-500cc category covered by this sales data.
Bullet 350 Holds Second Position
The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 finished in second place with 27,533 units.
That's up from 24,188 units in August last year, giving the Bullet a 13.83% year-on-year increase.
Month-on-month performance was positive as well. Bullet 350 sales increased from 26,245 units in July 2026, representing growth of approximately 4.91%.
Hunter 350 Takes Third Place
Royal Enfield's more compact Hunter 350 recorded 23,869 units in August.
That's only a modest 2.45% improvement year-on-year from 23,298 units, but the Hunter performed better when compared with July. Sales increased 8.34% from the previous month's 22,031 units.
With the Classic, Bullet and Hunter occupying the top three positions, Royal Enfield's hold over this part of the market remains difficult for competitors to ignore.
Meteor 350 Crosses 10,000 Units
Fourth place also went to Royal Enfield, this time with the Meteor 350.
The cruiser recorded 10,669 units, compared with 8,957 units during August 2025. That works out to a strong 19.11% year-on-year increase.
Unlike the Classic, Bullet and Hunter, however, the Meteor declined on a month-on-month basis. July sales stood at 11,152 units, resulting in a 4.33% sequential drop.
Honda CB350 Sales Jump 132.5%
While Royal Enfield controlled the top positions, the standout growth story came from Honda's CB350 range.
Combined CB350 sales reached 9,052 units in August 2026, compared with just 3,893 units a year earlier.
That represents an impressive 132.52% year-on-year increase. Sales also improved 24.07% compared with the 7,296 units recorded in July 2026.
Honda still operates at a much smaller volume than Royal Enfield in this category, but the sharp increase makes the CB350 range one of the most interesting numbers in the August sales report.

Royal Enfield Controls More Than 83% of the Category
Looking at manufacturers rather than individual motorcycles makes Royal Enfield's position even clearer.
Royal Enfield models included in this 350cc-500cc dataset collectively recorded 1,10,259 units, up 13.57% from 97,085 units a year earlier.
That translates to an enormous 83.56% share of the category represented by this dataset.
Honda followed with 9,083 units when its relevant models are combined, while the Bajaj-associated group – including Bajaj, KTM, Husqvarna and Triumph – collectively recorded 10,993 units.
Classic 350, Bullet and Hunter Remain Royal Enfield's Big Three
Perhaps the clearest takeaway from August is just how heavily Royal Enfield's volumes continue to be driven by its familiar 350cc motorcycles.
The Classic 350, Bullet 350 and Hunter 350 together accounted for 94,830 units during the month.
Add the Meteor 350 and the four motorcycles collectively reach 1,05,499 units.
This means Royal Enfield's core 350cc range alone was responsible for a very large portion of all the motorcycles covered by this capacity-group sales report.
Honda Is Growing, But the Gap Remains Large
Honda's 132.52% growth deserves attention, particularly because the CB350 range crossed 9,000 monthly units.
At the same time, the absolute numbers put that growth into perspective. The Classic 350 alone sold nearly five times as many units as Honda's combined CB350 range during August.
Honda therefore recorded strong momentum, while Royal Enfield retained a substantial volume advantage.
What August 2026 Sales Tell Us
August was a positive month for India's mid-capacity motorcycle market. Overall volumes increased both year-on-year and month-on-month, suggesting healthy demand ahead of the festive period.
Royal Enfield remained the dominant manufacturer, and the Classic 350 once again proved to be the biggest individual volume driver.
Honda's CB350 performance is worth watching in the coming months. Maintaining triple-digit percentage growth becomes harder as the comparison base increases, but crossing 9,000 units gives Honda significantly more presence in this category than it had a year ago.

What We Think
August 2026 shows that competition in India's 350cc-500cc space is expanding, but Royal Enfield's core motorcycles continue to operate at a very different scale.
The Classic 350 remains the clear volume leader, while the Bullet and Hunter give Royal Enfield two more high-volume models immediately behind it.
Honda's CB350 growth adds an interesting twist to the numbers. Its 132.52% increase is the standout percentage gain among the leading models, although there remains a sizeable absolute sales gap between Honda and Royal Enfield.
With overall category sales approaching 1.32 lakh units in a single month, the August figures also underline how significant the mid-capacity motorcycle market has become in India.
