New Kawasaki Versys 900 Revealed – Z900-Based ADV Gets Radar ADAS, 122 bhp
Kawasaki has revealed the all-new Versys 900, an adventure tourer based on the popular Z900. It comes in two versions, Versys 900 and Versys 900 SE, and is Kawasaki's most advanced ADV yet, with radar-based rider assistance.
Where It Fits
The Versys 900 sits between the Versys 650 and Versys 1100 in Kawasaki's adventure tourer line-up, filling the gap with a four-cylinder bike that is more manageable than the 1100.
Engine and Performance
It uses the same 948cc inline four-cylinder engine as the Z900, retuned for touring to make 122 bhp and 97.3 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.
Radar-Based ADAS
The Versys 900's biggest highlight is its safety tech. It gets front and rear radar, which enable:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Blind-spot detection
- Forward collision warning
Radar-based features like these are still rare on motorcycles and usually found only on expensive premium tourers.
Features and Chassis
- 6-axis IMU with cornering-aware traction control
- Ride-by-wire throttle
- 5-inch TFT display
- New trellis frame with 50:50 weight distribution
- USD front fork and linkage-type rear monoshock
- 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends
- Seat height of 825 mm, adjustable to 845 mm
Design
The Versys 900 follows Kawasaki's familiar Versys styling, with a semi-fairing, tall windscreen, dual LED headlamps, an upright riding position, a large comfortable seat and a rear luggage rack. The Versys 900 SE adds LED fog lamps, heated grips, knuckle guards, frame sliders and a radiator guard.

India Launch
An India launch of the Versys 900 is likely, given Kawasaki's strong presence here with the Z900 and Versys 650. However, the high-spec Versys 900 SE is less likely to come to India. Once launched, it would rival bikes like the Triumph Tiger Sport 800 and Suzuki V-Strom 800.
