Honda CB250SS Scrambler Concept Revealed – 249cc Engine, Neo-Retro Design

By 91Bikes Team

Honda has unveiled the CB250SS Scrambler Concept at the CIMA Motorcycle Trade Show in Chongqing, China. It is a compact neo-retro motorcycle with scrambler styling, but Honda has not yet confirmed whether a production version will follow.

Design

The CB250SS mixes retro charm with a rugged scrambler theme. Key design highlights include:

  • Round headlamp with quad LED projectors, similar to the Rebel series, protected by a headlight grille
  • Teardrop-shaped fuel tank in white with red stripes and CB250SS branding
  • Small fly screen and red-and-white mudguards
  • Brown ribbed seat with Honda branding
  • Gold-finished USD front forks and engine casing
  • Bash plate, radiator guard and an upswept twin-tip exhaust

Engine and Features

The concept is powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. It is likely related to the engine in the Japan-spec Rebel 250, which makes about 26 bhp and 22 Nm. This engine family also includes the 286cc unit used in the CB300R and Rebel 300.

A round TFT display with Honda RoadSync connectivity and navigation is also on board.

Real Off-Roader?

The CB250SS wears block-pattern dual-sport tyres, but it is more of a style-focused scrambler than a serious off-roader. The wheels appear to be 17-inch units at both ends, and the suspension does not look like it offers much travel.

India Launch?

For now, the CB250SS is only a concept, and it is unclear if a production version would be limited to China or sold globally. With retro and scrambler bikes popular in India, a production model would be an interesting rival to the Royal Enfield Scram 440, Triumph Scrambler 400 X and Yezdi Scrambler.
